Florida Power and Light says nuclear plant strain could be ‘very severe’

The utility has identified a plant strain that could result in a “very severe” power outage in the area.

Power outages have been a major concern in the state this winter, with thousands of customers without power across the state.

The state Department of Emergency Management has said the situation could get worse before it gets better.

A utility spokesperson told WXIA-TV the power plant strain “is more severe than we’ve seen in the past.”

WXII reports the plant strain was found after the plant had a partial meltdown.

It is the latest power outage for the region.
