What the world knows about the Keystone XL pipeline and the power plant that powered it

The Keystone XL Pipeline, which was proposed in the US as the US could cut greenhouse gas emissions by 80 percent if it built the pipeline, has been denied a permit from the US Department of State.

The State Department, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of the Interior (DOI) had denied approval for the pipeline because of environmental concerns.US Secretary of State John Kerry said the decision was made “based on our conclusion that the project does not have the necessary conditions to move forward.”

The State department has not yet made any decision on the pipeline.

The pipeline is the third and final US project approved for US export.

The Keystone pipeline is part of the $5 trillion Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal.
